How to create an Auction with live bidding on Hoofpick

Updated over a week ago

If you've got anything equestrian that you want to sell at auction, you can run a live Auction on Hoofpick. Your account comes with one free Auction so you're good to go. If you would like to know how to purchase additional ones, please see here.

First, go to your dashboard and navigate to Auctions in the menu on the left. Use the drop down to click on Auctions.

To create a new Auction, click Add new.

Complete the Auction Information

Any field marked with a * must be completed before you proceed to the next step.

Make sure the Status is set to "Active" for people to see your Auction. It can be set to "Inactive" if you want to save it, but only you can see it.

If you would like your Auction to be seen on hoofpick.net and in the Hoofpick App, make sure you set Display on Hoofpick to "Active". But if you want your Auction to only appear on your private domains (your Website, Facebook Page and/or Mobile App) then set this to "Inactive".

Once you have completed the Basic Information, click Next.

Complete the Auction Details

Now choose your Start Price for the bidding to start at.

You may also set a Reserve Price this is optional. (Bidders will not be able to win an auction unless the Reserve Price has been met. This price can also be changed during the auction if the reserve is not met.)

Then set the date and time you would like the Auction to open and close.

You have an unlimited character space to provide a full description.

Customers with Hoofpick CREME can use Chapi - AI assistant to automatically generate this content.

You can also choose to embed a Hoofpick Biz form. Learn more about digital forms here.

Give your Terms and Conditions that buyers will need to read and accept before placing a bid on your Auction. Then click Next.

Add Media to your Auction

This can include images, documents, breeding database links and videos. Simply select "Choose file" to upload a file from your device. To add multiple files, click More and a new space will be provided for an additional upload.

  • Any images you upload must be JPEG or PNG files.

  • Any documents you upload must be PDF files.

  • The pedigree can link to and display a URL from a breeding database.

  • To include videos in your listing, copy and paste the YouTube or Hoofpick TV URL into the space provided.

All files should be less than 2MB each, and total upload on any submission should not exceed 10MB. If you experience difficulties uploading multiple files or images, try adding one, submit the Auction and then go back and edit it to add more.

When you've finished adding your Media you will need to read and accept the Final Value Fees, then click Submit to save the Auction.

You will be taken back to Auctions in your dashboard with a message to confirm "Auction has been successfully created" and your Auction will now appear in the list below.

You can view, edit and delete your Auction by clicking on the Action buttons next to it.

You can edit your Auction up until the Reserve Price has been met. If there's no Reserve Price set, then the Auction can be edited up until the first bid has been placed.

Let the live bidding begin!
